Summer activities in Lapland

Lapland doesn’t normally spring to mind when thinking of Summer holidays but in fact there is an abundance of things to see and do for both the adults and the children.  There are many water based sports to enjoy and with the weather warm and sunny there is nothing better than enjoying some canoeing or Kayaking or why not try the inflatable boats. There are plenty of places that run organised tours on some of the various rivers or why not try a trip on the calm lake where you will be surrounded by nature; you may see an elk grazing nearby as you watch the trout gently feeding on the water’s edge.  There are the water tubes to enjoy which the children will love. The water tubes will take you down stream and when you want to stop to do a spot of fishing or have a cup of tea, just drop the anchor and enjoy the scenery. Waders will be worn so each person will stay perfect and dry. There is also a couple of really nice beaches in Yllas and you can hire a boat and sail from one end of the river to the other. You can relax quietly whilst the children play happily on the beach or you could try a spot of swimming. The beaches are beautifully clean and the waters so pure and fresh and there are changing facilities where you can change in comfort.  Other activities on offer are bike riding and trekking. Bike riding is a really popular sport in Lapland and you can travel to the top of Yllas fell where the scenery is breathtaking, you then start your descent and have the most exhilarating ride of your life.  Yllas also has its own tennis court and golf course, so there really is lots to do and because Yllas is a small quiet resort, you will appreciate the calm, serenity whilst still enjoying a busy, fun holiday.
